About Small Kindness

Small Kindness is a small, independent, handmade soap business based in Birmingham, UK. The business was founded by me, Kelly (Hi!) after I was made redundant for having chronic migraines (!), all during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was determined there was a better, kinder way and have always been keen to help people start on their journey to reduce their impact on the environment. So making and selling soap seemed like a perfect place to start!

Soap needs little packaging and is a simple first swap for people on the way to lessening their impact on the environment. And that was how Small Kindness was born. As a soapmaking novice this was quite an undertaking, but after a lot of research (which I loved as a scientist) and multiple batches later the first Small Kindness soaps are now available to try!

All of my soaps are handmade, in small batches, using the cold process method and will always be palm oil free, never tested on animals (just willing friends and family!), vegan or vegetarian, and plastic free.

Considering the impact of my products on people and the planet is at the heart of everything I am trying to do. That is why, where possible, I will use organic and fairly traded ingredients, I will minimise the waste in both manufacturing processes and in the packaging. And most importantly I will always be transparent about all of these things.

Here at Small Kindness I am on a mission to show that small changes can really make a big difference. One bar of soap at a time. Kind to the skin, to people and to the planet. That's the Small Kindness way.
